Guernsey sweater
This tough item was worn by fishermen from Guernsey Island, located in the English Channel between England and France.
Due to its location, Guernsey is an area where both British and French cultures are mixed together. BONCOURA has created a unique interpretation of the Guernsey sweater, which has a strong British image.
The material used is BONCOURA's original merino wool. It is made using generous amounts of high-quality merino wool and is tightly knitted by skilled craftsmen, making it a masterpiece that you can use for a long time.

BONCOURA knitwear and sweaters are made with a generous amount of high-quality wool that would not be possible with normal shaping. If you just want to make it look exactly the same, you can make it with about 1/2 to 1/3 the amount. However, even if it looks the same, the warmth and texture when worn will be quite different. At BONCOURA, we place importance on texture and feel above all else. By knitting tightly, pilling is less likely to occur and heat retention is improved, and depending on the type of raw wool, it is less likely to stretch than regular knitwear. You might think that it is a heavy knitwear that has heat retention, which is often seen in vintage items, but by using carefully selected high-quality raw wool without compromise, it does not feel heavy and fits the body very well. This is a proud item of BONCOURA that overturns the concept of general wool knitwear and will be enjoyed for a long time.
