B-43 USN Threne Vat Dye olive

The B-43 USN is distinguished by two large chest pockets characteristic of the USN style.

Two large flap pockets positioned low on the front, together with the absence of a gas flap, give the jacket a simple and uncluttered construction.

The combination retains the strong character of military wear while creating a distinctive, clean balance.

The jacket is made from BONCOURA’s original Military Olive Herringbone fabric.

Substantial in weight and defined by the pronounced texture of the herringbone weave, it is an exceptional fabric that develops the distinctive aging characteristic of BONCOURA through continued wear.

BONCOURA’s original Military Olive Herringbone fabric is dyed exclusively with Threne dyes, a type of dye widely used for military garments of the period.

Like indigo, Threne dyes are classified as vat dyes. They offer excellent resistance to fading caused by sunlight and chlorine-based bleaching agents found in some detergents. Because of their exceptionally high colorfastness, vat dyes were widely adopted for military garments intended for use under demanding conditions.

While Threne dyes are highly effective at retaining color, controlling their tone and achieving the intended shade is extremely difficult. Producing a precise color requires the experience and skill of highly accomplished craftsmen, making fabrics dyed entirely with Threne dyes increasingly rare today.

The measurements in the size chart are taken after the garments have been washed and dried at the factory and have reached their shrunken state.
